As we start to see the first glimmers of spring and we adjust our clocks to British Summer Time, we start to enjoy the longer evenings and brighter commutes to work. So we dare to hope and believe summer is arriving and so find the finest fragrances to sport this coming season.
Tom Ford - Neroli Portofino £154/50ml
Tom Ford fragrances can be a little hit or miss, with many of them being far too deep and woody for many men to wear successfully. The Neroli Portofino however is a surprisingly sumptuous departure from the musky alternatives in the Tom Ford stable. This is a future iconic fragrance which balances vibrant citrus oils and base floral notes. The press pack states it has notes of Amber, but I fail to comprehend what fossilised tree sap smells of? Still I believe it refers to the warmth of the scent, a truly exceptional fragrance that lasts well.
Acqua Di Parma - £60/70ml
Acqua Di Parma is an iconic product in its own right, being launched back in early 2006. With its fruity, floral fragrance which opens up into top notes of Bergamot, Lemon, Grapefruit, and Citron. Middle notes, when warm, of Pink Peppercorn, Jasmine Petals and Fig Nectar are then blended with base notes of Fig wood, Cedarwood and Benzoin to finish the scent.
A superbly alternative fragrance that will get noticed! While not a heavy scent a little goes a long way and lasts throughout the day. Perfect for those days when you leave work late and have an engagement straight after.
CREED - Virgin Island Water - £155/120ml
CREED have always pioneered their own unique fragrances and sadly many men overlook this hidden gem in their collection. Virgin Island Water opnes with fresh top notes of Lime, Coconut, Mandarin Orange, Bergamot, it continues with middle notes of Ginger, Jasmine, Hibiscus, Ylang-Ylang , ending with base notes of sugar and maybe even rum. This is a remarkably clean scent, one that compliments those long summer parties and BBQs on the beach. Two sprays to the neck are all that are needed to see you through from dusk to dawn.
